Reflection #1 – What does it mean to “Be Warrior?”

Be Warrior.  What does it mean to “Be Warrior?”  The meaning can be unique to each of us and we can also share common ideas.  Today as I recollect on how Cole personified the idea of “Be Warrior,” I vividly remember how he worked to start each day in the face of his tough reality.  Ben could not see or walk and had increasing difficulty with other daily routines.  But each morning, he boldly declared, “Dad, I’m going to make it a good day today.” We would eat a healthy breakfast— coffee, a Daily Harvest smoothie, and a vegan scramble.  Next we took a shower, executed his detailed body cleaning routine, then spent time blow drying and combing his beautiful blond hair so it was perfect.  We finished by picking out the best outfit for the day and topped it all off with a squirt of his favorite cologne “Eternity.”  These may seem like daily little things but this was showing up for each day in spite of the worst circumstances.  This was “Be Warrior”!

You can ‘Be Warrior’ too!

You are invited to ‘Be Warrior’ in Ben’s memory by participating in one of our ‘Be Warrior’ Challenge hikes, by creating your own ‘Virtual Challenge‘ or making a donation to help us find a cure for ALD. We would love to hear how you are accepting the challenge!
